We've had a lot of crime around the two areas I live recently. The pub I work at part time was armed robbed a couple of weeks ago, my friend was tazered... and then someone else who works at our pub was mugged... I think I'm going to start wrapping myself in cotton wool!

You should! It's getting worse everywhere. I noticed a while ago that I've started to feel scared sometimes at night. Outside, I mean. If I hear steps I sometimes walk faster instead of just glancing behind me and see what kind of a person it is. Once I walked around a block because I convinced myself some drunk guys who stood at the corner surely would mug me if I passed them. Didn't use to feel that way. :(

Talking about evil doctors, I saw Sicko yesterday. Boy, was it scary. So good, even some fun stuff in it. He loves the British healthcare system BTW. Held it up as an example for America.

I think our healthcare system is good, until you actually need to use it!! All of the figures supplied are fiddle with and made to look good.

I'm never too scared of anything happening to myself, if it happens there's not going to be a lot I can do. I would sometimes try to avoid certain areas or big groups if I could... but now I drive nearly everywhere!

It's the amount of violent crime that scares me. like today, at work, they've sent a warning out via e-mail to warn everybody, especially nurses of a person who's known to be dangerous and carry a knife.

The guy who was mugged is special needs, I know it doesn't make a difference, but I guess they just saw him as an easy target. The amount of force they used is scary! He has a lot of bruising to his face and needed stitches to his face. :(

That's so bad. Yeah, that's what they do. Go for the easy targets, li'l old ladies. We had a gang here in town a few years ago that did the opposite. They mugged men between 25-50 after the pubs' closed. I guess they expected them to have the most money on them. They were very brutal too. I don't think anyone saw them. They sneaked up from behind and clobbered the victim good and senseless right from the start. No "hand over your money". IIRC several had brain damage.

Michael Moore compared Canadian, British, French and Cuban health care to American. In that light they were all great! Kind of took the the french system myself. They have lots of benefits I didn't know about.

In US it's obviously very hard to get care. Lots of scare storied about people who were left to die because they didn't have insurance or their insurance all of a sudden didn't cover their condition. One great sequence - there are volunteers from the WTC tragedy that don't get treatment. Many of them destroyed their lungs, it seems. They weren't on the city's or the governmnets payroll, so no one is responsible for them. Can you imagine? :?

He took a bunch of them in a boat and headed for Guantanamo Bay - because the prisoners there gets excellent health care in addition to the torture. Well, they weren't let in, but Cuban health care gave them the treatment the U.S. one didn'ts and it was free. I love Michael Moore. I wish he would move here. :D
